Polypro or HDPE?
How do you choose?
HDPE is softer plastic (white) but better in cold temperatures because it doesn’t become brittle. I recommend that if you live somewhere that snows and like to hoop outside that HDPE is better! Because it doesn’t break like Polypro will it is more likely to take more hits and keep going. That’s why I use PE and HDPE for kid hoops!
Polypro is harder/bouncier (clearish white) but better in hot temperatures because it won’t feel too soft if it gets too warm. I live in California and definitely left my hoop in the car and the HDPE was a sad noodle but the Polypro was still bouncy and very usable! I also love warm summer hoop sessions and feel like Polypro holds up to the heat. Where I live it rarely snows but when winter does come I switch over to HDPE.
If you have the ability to get both you should try them in the appropriate weather to see how each brings out your flow!
